Brilliant Ideas shortlisted for five construction industry awards | Brilliant Ideas Brilliant Ideas | Brilliant Ideas shortlisted for five construction industry awards

We’re chuffed that we’ve been nominated for five prestigious industry awards, which showcase the best projects and products in the country.

One shortlisting is in the British Construction Industry Awards in the category Product Innovation of the Year. Two products have made the line-up. ALIMATS® – a handleable interlocking outrigger mat system made from recycled certified Aluminium, making them strong, safe and sustainable. The other is a Hole Cover – a quick and simple-to-install method of covering temporary holes, making them safe during construction.

The second is in the Construction News Specialists Awards where we secured a shortlist hat-trick across two categories. Nominations are in the category for Equipment Specialist of the Year which recognises commitment to innovations in equipment health and safety and business excellence, and Innovation of the Year. The two shortlisted products are for our Safety Net Recovery System, invented as a simple way of recovering a site operative who has fallen from height into a safety net, and SLAPP Clamp, a lightweight pallet-lifting device.

These pioneering products have been developed by our very own Chris Massey and used by some of the leading names in industry, such as HS2, Kier, Balfour Beatty, Costain, Interserve, Willmott Dixon, FP McCann and Bison Precast, to keep people safe when working on site.

We asked Chris for his reaction to the nominations. ‘I’m over the moon. Four of our products have caught the judge’s eye to reach the shortlist across both of these industry Awards – and Brilliant Ideas has been recognised for our commitment to innovation. Every product we develop is about improving site safety and efficiencies and most have been created in response to accidents or near misses. These national awards are some of the most celebrated in construction and we are up against some other very good nominations’.

The awards are judged by an independent panel of expert judges, major contractors and industry figures. The winners will be announced at the two awards ceremonies in London, in October.
