Our engineered levelling shims are called Stacker Packers and because of their compressive strength, they’re trusted by industry. They’ve been used on all sorts of high-profile projects, including Barcelona Cathedral, Fulham Football Club, Sandwell Aquatics, Anfield Main Stand, Wimbledon Court One, Manchester Metro and Emirates Stadium.
In the last 12-months alone, orders for Stacker Packers has increased 225% – they’re shipped across the UK and abroad. In fact, we’ve just despatched some more to our client in Barcelona.
Made from virgin High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) they’re perfect for use on steel framed buildings which support precast concrete components. Stacker Packers have interlocking dowels which makes sure they remain safe and stable during installation – so, there’s no slipping against each other under load.
Our Stackers have been independently load tested by the HCC County Highways Laboratory – and passed with flying colours.
Very recently, we carried out extensive tests where we applied loads of up to 23T onto our 70mm x 70mm plan area of Stacker Packers. On shim stacks ranging from 25mm to 100mm we recommend a compressive strength of 30N/mm² is assumed for design purposes. Based on an applied load of 14.65T onto a 50mm shim stack, vertical deformation was only 0.38% or 0.19mm.
Traditional plastic shims on the other hand are not load rated, as they’re made from recycled plastic.
