Fall Arrest Safety Equipment Training (FASET) has announced that Chris Massey has been appointed to their Board. Chris is the Managing Director of Derbyshire-based Brilliant Ideas Ltd, innovators and manufacturers of safety products for the construction industry, and sister company, Beresford’s Flooring.

Chris was identified by the FASET Board as an excellent candidate because of his extensive expertise in developing innovative products to keep people safe at work. One of those products is the Safety Net Recovery System. It was invented by Chris as a simple way of recovering a site operative who has fallen from height into a safety net.

Speaking on his appointment, Chris said: “I’m delighted to be joining industry colleagues. My interest in working safely at height is based on personal experience involving one of my colleagues. I understand first-hand how important it is to be able to recover someone who has fallen into netting but isn’t in a position to get themselves out. It was this incident that made me head to the drawing board. I’m looking forward to working with the FASET Board – and to do our very best to eliminate casualties that result from working at height”

Tony Seddon, Managing Director at FASET, said: “Chris is a great choice for this new role as he has a wealth of experience in safety innovation and soft-landing systems. The Net Recovery System is really useful where metal decking nets are rigged a few meters above the ground. It’s a good piece of kit – and another option in a rescuers armoury. Chris is sensible and pragmatic and has a no-nonsense stance. He runs a successful business and brings a balancing influence to the Board.”

The Safety Net Recovery System is an award-winning invention. It’s the joint winner of the FASET Health Safety & Training Award; and currently shortlisted for BSiF Safety Awards for Product Innovation.
